My new blog deals more with spirituality, things that go bump in the night, current events, our planet, metaphysical events, journaling and so on. Since there are so many sites showing goodies for sale, I have decided to only spotlight some items occasionally. I am always open to new ideas and will sometimes use a subject that I find on other blog sites. I hope to introduce some interesting subjects. Come on along and enjoy yourself. Hello everyone. I haven't posted here for a while so I thought I better get busy.

I have been in contact with the Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Program at Randall Children's Hospital in Portland Oregon. I have been wanting to create some beads for their Journey Beads program (similar to Beads of Courage). I finally have all the details and will begin creating beads in January.

By making beads for the hospital, I am "Paying It Forward" in my own way. Are you involved in any sort of volunteer program in your area? Would you like to share your story? Just leave a comment.

Hello out there. I am amazed that the end of this year is so close now! Have you done any of your holiday shopping yet? I am doing most of mine online this year and I am about half way done. Yesterday we went to the Christmas Bazaar in Portland, Or. Wow! Lots of goodies and food and wine and ideas. It was great to see all the new ideas in person as opposed to seeing a picture on line. I have my list ready and working on completion. Yaaaahoooooo..

Don't forget to take some time out this holiday season to pamper yourself. You can avoid all sorts of stress if you remember that you are a human being and deserve to be spoiled a little too. After all, who will really take care of you if you don't? Get a massage, visit a spa, have your hair and nails done. Do something just for yourself. I think your holidays will be a much better experience if you do. Happy Holidays One Day At A Time!

Sunday the day of rest.

When I was young, Sunday was the day for my dad to watch "cowboy movies" on TV. My sister and I rode the local bus to church. When we got home, the house always smelled wonderful because mom would be cooking dinner and baking special goodies. The best memories I have of these times was during the fall season. Mom made some of the best Norwegian pastries I have ever tasted. All our neighbors could attest to that. We could either go outside and play or sit quietly and watch tv with dad. We tried to keep busy doing something so time would go by faster and dinner would be ready. To this day, I have that same feeling on fall Sundays that I had then. There are only two of us in my household so there isn't much baking or cooking going on. We watch football (go Greenbay) and I get online and either read the online paper or catch up on other things. Sometimes I work on my crafts. Sometimes I just snuggle under a blanket and read a good book. It is still a nice relaxing day. No working, no "I have to go here or there", and no rushing to get something done. I am glad that something in my life is the same. I love chilly Sundays.

November Already!

Well, now that it is November, I will be getting a year older soon. I certainly don't feel older. Time marches on.

Are you getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Have you started your to do lists and Christmas lists and food lists and party lists and so on and so on............ It is no wonder this holiday season is full of so much stress. Everyone wants to do the right thing and purchase the correct present for that special someone, and have everything be super yummy at the dinner table or that party. Been there, done that. As time goes by, you learn how to shop all year long when you can, to make easy recipes for family and friends and to slow down. It is much nicer now than it was years ago. Looking back I could probably kick myself for stressing out so much and not enjoying the holiday season. Nothing is more important than the love of family and friends. Be sure to spend as much time as possible with loved ones and take lots of pictures. And don't forget to take care of yourself. Take a time out every day. Even if only for five minutes. Take a bubble bath. Eat a piece of incredibly rich chocolate. Have a mimosa with breakfast if you want to. Give yourself a little treat. De-stress daily.

I am going to enjoy the upcoming holiday as much as possible. I wish the same for you.

New Items In My Shop

I have just listed three new items in my Artfire shop. These new items are cone incense holders and I am really excited that I came up with the idea. I love burning incense but don't care for the mess you get with sticks. I prefer to burn cone incense but haven't had much luck getting it to stay lit and burn all the way down. Sound familiar? So I did some investigating and tried different designs. After much frustration, I tried the current design and am totally happy. I have been using one of these incense burners for over a month and it works great! Now, I don't know if anyone has ever made this particular design or not, but I haven't found anything on the world wide web that matched my design. (If you have run across such a design, please provide me with a web address.) So I created this way to burn cone incense. I have made some different holders for using the burner. I am also working on some holders with silver colored wire, and who knows, maybe even colors! If you would like a particular style or color, I will be happy to create the perfect holder for you.

Time for a change.

Hello all. I recently found out the group I belonged to is no longer going on. The Polymer Clay Smooshers site is closed. For the last couple of years I have been a part of this wonderful group of artists. I shall miss them all but hope to keep in touch as I can. Being a "Smoosher" has helped me to grow and push my limits. Something I learned is if you can think it, you can do it. I met a lot of great artists whose ideas inspired me. By being involved in the monthly challenges, I grew as an artist, always thinking of what to create for the newest challenge. There is no wrong way to create. You just need to jump in with both feet and begin. Pretty soon you will find that you are having fun watching a lump of clay turn into a piece of art. Practice and experiment. Get excited about color and form and shape. Look at other artists' work, read the books and magazines. Get inspired. Use your hands to create a work of art. Make something for Christmas, or someone's birthday, or just for fun. Having fun is the best part.

I shall miss the Polymer Clay Smooshers. I thank each and every one of these fantastic artists for their help, encouragement and friendship. May you all be happy and creative.

Hello again. It has been quite a while since I have blogged. In fact it's been a long time since I did any crafting. Now that my health is mending, it's time for me to get my fingers all dirty with clay and inks and all kinds of goodies. I have been working a little each day to get back to making a mess on my workspace. That seems to be the easy part. Since my Artfire shop isn't very active, I have decided to open a shop in Etsy. Different name and everything! It is called Radiant Moon and will mainly feature items pertaining to the Goddess and Nature. It won't be open until October. In the past, I have tried to create items I thought others would enjoy. Now I am going to create items I enjoy. I have been drawing my ideas out for future creation and just hope the images in my head match what my hands make. My muse has assured me that I am doing the right thing. I will keep my Artfire shop for a while to see how things go. And I will promote the wonderful Polymer Clay Smooshers as I can.

I have also decided to write about different subjects on this blog. For instance, if you would like me to write a blog about your shop, please just let me know. I will be happy to do it. I am trading ATC's (paper type) with a group in Yahoo. I am also making greeting cards which I hope to sell. Some will be shown in Artfire and some will be shown in Etsy. If something sounds interesting, I hope write about it. I would love to receive feedback from you. Vacation and family

Dean and I recently took a "vacation" to visit with family in Tennessee. Now most people would not call that a vacation, but why not? When you go on vacation, you get away from your normal routine, and are someplace that isn't home. You do things that you would not normally do, like sight seeing and sleeping late. We did all that with family. It was extremely enjoyable. We live far apart so when we can get together, it's really neat. I also like going on vacation without family. And I have, many times over the years. Now that I am growing older, family is more important to me. Sometimes I think it would have been nice if my sisters would have been with us to see the Grand Canyon, or visit the San Diego Zoo or drive through the Rocky Mountains. We rented motor homes and houseboats with plenty of room for all of us. One of my sisters is gone and I miss her. I still have one sister and plan to do more visiting with her whenever I can. You can't change the past but you can change the future. I plan on having more fun to create lots of wonderful memories to go with the ones I already have.

Hello again. Well summer if officially here and I love it. We have had some strange weather here in Southwest Washington but that didn't stop the flowers and the trees from blooming. Everything is so beautiful. Especially the rhododendrons in bloom. So many lovely colors and combinations.

One of the many things I love about living here is that when you drive down the road, you don't just see scraggly grass and dirt on the sides of the road and in the medians. You see flowers and plants and trees. There is some new construction being done on one of the major roads near me and I can't wait to see which type of plants they will use. It's not just a matter of slapping some asphalt down and saying "done". Here things are made to look nice. As a result, people just might be a little happier and smile a little more without knowing why. When you have something pretty to look at, you somehow feel a bit happier.

Everywhere you look, you see Mother Nature at her finest. Have a lovely day.

Hello everyone. I am so sorry that I don't have a Wednesday Winndow Shopping blog for you today. I have this new laptop computer that knows more than I do and I have to get up to speed on it. It seems the mouse has a mind of its own and tells me what to do. Now,never being one to be told to do anything, we are having a struggle for power. And since i control the power, it had better start listening soon. I never knew how much I took the old system for granted and now I am struggling just to get the tabs to save for me. AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Wednesday Window Shopping #4

Well good morning everyone. I had a great time window shopping at these shops this week. Come on over and see what I found.

This adorable Goddess is from GundoWerks.

This Fire Goddess is a piece of wearable art. She lights up the room in reds, oranges and gold, her heart encompassing all. Wear this as a brooch or a necklace and always have a Goddess with you, reminding you that you are divine, exotic and amazing.

She is enchanting.

Today I went window shopping and looking for Easter gifts. I started with Dana's Jewelry & Etc. This little rabbit is made to order. Dana says "Once you purchase in the note area you will tell me what color you want your rabbit, what you would like him to be holding (flowers, eggs, carrots), then you will need to tell me if you want him to be a figurine, necklace, magnet or something else." Next I went to see what exciting creations ColtPixy has been working on. I just love this Pink egg with Chocolate Brown Lucky Bunny. But then it is difficult to only chose one. She has quite a selection and I would love to have all of them. She also has plenty of other items in her shop. Sigh. Chose your items soon before they are all gone.

My last stop for today is at Valerie's Stuff. She has lots of eye candy for you to check out. This lovely pendant reminds us that spring is here and nature is waking up from it's long nap. Hello to you all. The Polymer Clay Smooshers have recently added some new members and since I was doing a little window shopping I thought I would share some items I found with you.

She is just beginning and will have many more wonderful items soon. Her barrettes are wonderful and I can't wait to see what else she creates.

Beginnings in 2011

First blog of the new year. Ok. Let's start with beginnings. First of all, I would like to "begin" to create more blog posts so that I can chat about all the wonderful Smooshers we have in our guild. Just look at some of the luscious items I found just looking around their sites.

Bucket List

I have come to a very important decision in my life. I am making myself a bucket list. Yup. I decided to make this list when my life partner and I discussed my getting a scooter to get around in. I have arthritis and it wrecks havoc on my knees, ankles and hands. I still have many years left in me but you learn your limits as time goes by and I don't want to miss anything I can possibly do while I still can. I had put the scooter at the top of the bucket list. My LP surprised me with this little beauty for christmas.

This is a Golden Companion Scooter. And I got the red one. Woo Hoo. It comes with everything you see, except I have chrome wheels. It even has a headlight and tail lights, carpeting and a horn. The seat moves every which way and the front handle can be adjusted toward you for your comfort. The speed dial goes from turtle to rabbit.

I am very excited about being able to get around at the farmer's markets and the various shows and events I have had to miss due to my inability to walk far.

We took it to the library yesterday to try it out for the first time. While in the parking lot I turned it up to rabbit to see how fast it goes. No wonder it has wheelie bars on the back. It goes so fast!!!! I think I better keep it down on turtle. Safer for everyone around me that way.

So, since the first item is already done, I will arrange the other items on my bucket list in the order I want and just go for it.

Do you create a list of things to be accomplished every year? Do you get some of them done? Or all of them? If you don't have a list, would you like to have one and look back this time next year and see what you accomplished? When I was young, I never made a list. I was always doing something. There is still so much to do.

If you are reading this, you know how it is trying to get through the throngs of people looking for bargains for next year's decorations. The pulling and pushing, and stamping on feet, and the looks. Oh goodness the way people look at you when you have the one item in your cart that they want. It has been years since I have gone shopping the day after christmas for all the bargains. I thing it is more fun watching all the crazy people than actually buying anything. Then of course at the same time you have all the people returning unwanted items. The sweater that is an ugly shade of green or the slippers that are two sizes too big. How about the music your Aunt Hattie thought you might like. Oh dear. Bless every person who thought they were getting the gifts right. When you stop and think about it, it is never easy trying to find just the right thing for everyone. No wonder the holidays bring such stress to us. We get a lot of stress during the holidays but just think of the sales person checking your purchases out or the service desk person who has to listen to you tell all about the awful gift they have to return. My hat is off to the people who work the day after christmas. You deserve a raise. I for one thank you very much for all you have to deal with on this day.

I have worked in retail and know from personal experience how much of a nightmare it can be. So, I wish each and every one of you a quiet evening to relax and unwind. And maybe, just maybe you could find some little thing to make you smile about all that has happened today.

Holiday Season

I wish everyone a happy holiday season. This is a time for family and friends. A time to count our blessings. And a time to celebrate life. Every one of us has a path through their life. We turn left or right. We make good and bad decisions. We make friend and enemies. Every day we make decisions that affect every other day. The one thing we don't do enough of is take care of ourselves. We are too busy taking care of everyone and everything else to spend time with ourselves. If you only take five minutes out of your day to do something special for yourself, you will find that there is a lot less stress in your day. I have learned to just sit and close my eyes for five minutes. Do nothing, think nothing, just sit quietly for five minutes. You will find that you are a little calmer and happier when your five minutes are up. Fascinating. It isn't easy to stop thinking. Concentrate on one thing. A color. A number. A picture. Just that one thing and nothing else.

I brought this subject up because I see so many people out shopping who are stressed so much. Some have very concetrated looks on their faces, some are grumpy, some are jittery and look ready to explode. Some of it may be unavoidable. If you just take five minutes out of your day, you will be amazed at how you feel. Give it a try.

Holiday Shopping

Yesterday I went to a very large craft show. I don't usually like going to places with so many people but we (my life partner and I) wanted to go this year. As we walked into the building, there was a lot of excitement in the air and plenty of shoppers smiling and talking with friends while they waited to purchase their tickets to go inside and see what was new and exciting. I have waited in line for quite a few events and the emotions around you are all different depending on what event you are attending. I expected the happiness and good cheer at the beginning of the show. What I didn't expect was the happiness and good cheer at the END of the show. I was mildly surprised as we walked up and down each aisle. People were not hurried and rude. There was very little bumping into folks. As I looked around at different eye candy, I also noticed people were taking their time. People were looking at and/or picking up something they liked and would actually take the time to comment on how lovely or clever the item was to the creator of the item. It was nice to see shoppers taking time to talk to the creators who worked so hard. Even if a person didn't buy something, it is still nice to know your work is appreciated. The atmosphere seemed more relaxed and in my observations, folks were more interested in what was being offered. There were a few places for people to sit and enjoy a snack and rest before going back to shopping, which I think helped the feeling of good cheer. There was even a vendor who rented out electric scooters to folks who had difficulty getting around. I was surprised and happy for this booth. It was not expensive and made my shopping more enjoyable as it did for many people.

There were some who were in a hurry or knew what they wanted right away. Others took their time. And toward the end of the show a few children were very tired. It was a big show. But all in all, a delightful experience. Shoppers were still smiling and chatting on their way out. We felt a little tired at the end, but not upset or angry. It is amazing how your surroundings affect your emotions. I am glad we went. Happy Holidays.

Lets Go Fishing

Now, I have my waders on and my paddle boat all ready to go, lets see what we can catch. Got the hook baited with some nice gold glittery stuff to attract the fishies. Throw the line in and sit back and relax. No, wait.........................

There is a tug on the line and what do I get?
An adorable little fishie from Laurelsteven. It is just so cute and has a big smile too. So I put her on the chain and continue to fish.

After baiting the hook again with some shiny copper glittery stuff, I again sit back. This time with a cup of nice hot chocolate. Well, just when I was finishing my hot chocolate, I caught this little guy from Laughing Moon Arts. And just look at those tiny sea shells. This is one adorable fish. So I add him to the chain. I am thinking I should try again and see what I come up with.

So, after baiting the hook with some red glittery stuff, I settle back and watch the birds flying overhead. Almost asleep when................you guessed it. Another little fishie. This little lady is sure to have all the fellas in a tither. Rita the Fantastic Fish is made by KBish Gallery.
Alright now, I think one more try and then go home. I can't believe my luck.

Got some blue glittery bait on the hook this time. Blue blends in withe the water and I wonder if the fish will see it. I didn't figure I would catch anything but a nap, so I settled in for one. Do you think I got to sleep? Noooooo. I caught another adorable little fishie. What a cute little fish inlaid in a piece of poplar wood. This is a very ingenious application by CNewcome's Woodworking. After adding this beauty to the chain, I decided to call it a day.

Today is October 1, 2010, or 10/01/10. Pretty nifty numbers. Numbers are a big part of our lives. From the time we are born until the time we pass from this life, we have numbers of one kind or another. Birthdays, appointments, office hours, bank accounts, telephone numbers, sales in business and well, the list goes on and on. My mind tends to wander from one subject to another when I am daydreaming and a thought came to me that I would like to bring up.

I was amazed at the number of people we have in our lives who support us, who stand beside us when we are happy and sad, when we have great things happen and when we need a shoulder to cry on. I also thought of all the people who have helped me when I needed it here on my computer. When I was starting my blog there were friends who helped me figure out just what to do and why. All of you should receive a metal. I thank you, one and all.

When I started my very first online shop, it was very confusing for me. I am not very computer savvy, just give me something simple. After searching around the Artfire site, I found a group of people I thought would be fun to get to know. To become a part of the "group" and share ideas and thoughts. Maybe they could help me figure things out and I could see how they did their shops and so on. These people were open and friendly and willing to help with anything I needed. I had found a wonderful place to be.

I joined the Artfire Smooshers and have never regretted it. The administrator of this group is ColtPixy aka: Star. From the first day I became a member, she has done everything she could to help be over the hurdles of becoming an online seller of great handmade items. She never asked for anything in return. Throughout the past year, I have seen her help many many people with their problems and concerns. She offers advise and will help you find the answers you are looking for.

I for one am truly grateful for ColtPixy and hope she will be around for a long time. Sometimes we forget to say thanks to someone. ColtPixy, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do.

Hello there. This is the main part of my work space. I am not drinking wine, that is pomegranate green tea. Ha. This is an old computer desk and there is a slide out shelf under the top so I have extra space to work. This picture is from yesterday before I got sick. I was working on some ATC's for a Native American Swap I signed up for. Last year I created almost 90 pieces of native american artwork for a friend of mine. Some of those pieces are in other parts of the world too. I am sort of proud of that. There are also a couple of bottles of hope on the desk. Anytime that I have a bit of clay left over from a project, I create another bottle.

Each book buddy is hand crafted from quality polymer clay without the use of molds. Each has a ribbon baked into their tail end to make them able to 'hang' out on your books. They are painted in acrylics and sealed with varnish.
The cat and beetle are sculpted from polymer clay by hand and are painted with acrylics and glazed. The beetle also has metallic powders embedded in the paint and tiny wire antennae. The base is a piece of st. Bees red Sandstone found on the beach. The cat is attached to the base, and the beetle is attached to wire which can be removed and repositioned.

I am amazed that a person can crochet with wire. I never would have thought of that. And it looks so pretty too. Here is some information I got from her artfire site.

I work in sterling or fine silver and copper wire in different colors, my pieces mostly are one of a kind because I like to experiment and try new things all the time. Often I just let the hook/spool/needles and the wire take over to lead my fingers and ideas.

I just started to discover the world of polymer clay. I like to make miniatures or sculptures, but also to incorporate polymer clay in my wire crochet jewelry designs.

I live in a town in Southern Germany with my husband and four crazy cats.

It is my honor to introduce you to a friend and fellow Polymer Clay Smoosher, Dawn Marie of IntoTheDawn. She is a wonderful polymer clay artist with an uncanny ability to get color and texture to work together allowing her to create some very lovely artwork. Her sense of style is unique and quite easy on the eyes.

Never completely satisfied with one type of artwork, she will try something totally different each time she is being creative.

As a member of the Polymer Clay Smooshers, we ask everyone to vote on our next challenge piece. This time almost everyone chose for us to make an item with an "Ocean" theme. You could make a fish or seashells, an ocean scene, or maybe something with ocean blue clay. Your imagination is your guide.

This scene is 4 x 6 inches in a cute little frame.

My choice was to make this scene which I call "Fish Party". I love making whimsical fish and have been doing it for years.

This is Miss Teaberry. She is a light pink color with lovely Purple curls and ribbons in her "hair".

This dapper fellow is Mr. Wellington. He is a blue octopus with a really snazzy hat.

A Great Polymer Clay Artist

While searching the internet for something different to purchase, why not mosey on over to ColtPixy's Artfire shop. She just may surprise you with her ingenuity and awesome color combinations.

Her flair for color and texture are amazing and well worth the visit.The heart shown is so very pretty and she has named this technique "Pixy Stone". She also has this in blue in her shop.

The second image is an egg which has been covered in pretty clay images. When the clay was cured, she then removed any egg shell showing to create this beautiful piece of art.

The final picture is a miniature basket of wonderful flowers done in 1:6 play scale. This is just one of the tiny items she has created.

Pastel Flowers and A Happy Bee

Here is a happy little bee collecting pollen and enjoying all the flowers. There are light blue and pink and lavender flowers for him to enjoy. There is a hole behind the lavender flower at the top so the tile can be hung up.

I did this 3x3 wall tile for an art challenge in a group I belong to.

Making an Artist Trading Card

Roll your clay out on the largest setting of your pasta machine. If you want your card to be a little bit thicker, roll your clay out on the #5 setting and fold the clay in half, then use your roller to remove any bubbles.

To get the proper size for an ATC, use a regular playing card or measure your size as 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. Use your blade cutter to get a smooth edge. Remove any excess clay and the playing card.

This is your ATC, all ready for you to embellish any way you like.
I have added small balls that I pushed into the clay with a ball tool. I created two different images from white clay and embellished them with irridescent powder for effect. I also added some glass beads I have. A small straw made the little circles pressed into the clay. I also used a small piece of wire to impress the X.

You can decorate your ATC any way you like, using beads, lace, wire, paint, glitter and so on. Just remember your ATC must fit inside a plastic pocket made for baseball cards. You can find these in any store that sells baseball cards.

Dragonfly and Flowers

I made this box for our Smoosher Challenge. The colors are vibrant and remind me of spring. I enjoy creating things like dragonflies and flowers to put on my boxes. Sometimes when I look at a box, I know immediately what will be added to it. Then sometimes, I have to wait for my muse to give me a hint. Lately my muse is pretty lazy. I have lots of different boxes waiting for her. She just laughs at me when I ask for her help. Then she gives me a hug.

Friendship Round Robin Box

The Polymer Clay Smooshers Guild that I belong to on Artfire showed interest in a Round Robin Box. It was simple. I put a minimum of five items in the box to be traded. If someone took all five items, they replaced five items. I also put a zippy bag in the box with things I no longer had a use for and this became the recycle bag. The box went all the way through the list of folks until it got to the last person before being sent back to me. This person decided she didn't want to play and kept everything. No contact was forthcoming from this person which kind of left me high and dry. Well, I thought, things happen. THIS PERSON IS NO LONGER A MEMBER OF THE POLYMER CLAY SMOOSHERS.

Then I decided to try it one more time because everyone had such a great time and I enjoyed seeing all the items people chose and replaced in the box. So as of today there are 12 people not including me who will be receiving the box. I mailed it out today to the first person on the list. I am hoping everyone will have lots of fun and show their pictures so everyone can see what was chosen. I can't wait to see what everyone gets.

Something New

This is a dragonfly I am working on. This is for a Smoosher challenge we have coming up. I have an idea to use it on a wooden box I have. Lots to do on it and will post more pictures as I can.

When we lived in Georgia, we saw so many different colors of dragon flies. It was amazing. Red ones, green ones, white ones, blue, brown, black, orange ones. I will say one thing for the bugs down there, they are colorful.

Tree

This is my first attempt at making a tree. I had the idea and decided to give it a try. I made some polymer clay eggs to hang from it. The tree is made from wire and wrapped in white florist tape. The base is also polymer clay. I have some other ideas I want to try. I could make one with more branches and then make different items to hang from it. Like valentines, shamrocks, eggs, Christmas stuff and so on. Lots of ideas from this one.

Trees

This seems to be the month for trees. Since our weather has been so mild this winter, our flowering trees have gone crazy. Other trees are in full bud and everything looks beautiful.

On another note, the tree across from my apartment was cut down this morning. It was a huge tree about 50 feet tall and about 9 feet across. It was HUGE and very old. I used to sit and watch the squirrels and birds fight for space on a special limb. Then in spring time watching a new batch of baby squirrels run around that tree chasing each other. We fed the squirrels peanuts and laughed as they tried to find just the right spot in the yard to bury their prize. We are sure gonna miss that tree.

The tree was not diseased and there was nothing wrong with it. It was just "in the way".

Zentangle

I have found something that I hope will help me and my muse. Zentangle. You can look it up on google and find out all about it. I am fascinated and have already begun to try this. It is amazing when you play some nice music and get lost in what you are doing. As you draw you tune out everything else and just draw. I find that I come up with some great ideas while doing this. I just draw and draw and then all of a sudden, wow, I have a really nice picture and some good ideas. How neat is that?

Colors

Hello. It has been a while since I have posted and I apologize.
I have been going over things that I have made over the past couple of months and find that a lot of it is purple. I don't know why that is. I have a whole bunch of colors and mixtures. So, I am going back to my desk and create some things with COLOR. I love color. Rainbows make us smile. We look in awe at the northern lights. Cars are being painted with brighter colors now too. Which I think is awesome. Since I live in an apartment, everything is white. I added bright red accents in my kitchen which makes it fun. My coffee pot, microwave, dish towels, kitchen knick knack shelves, all are red. I never would have thought of red in my kitchen before. But I like it.
I have to create some items for spring and for St. Patrick's Day so this is a good place to start. Flowers, shamrocks, color everywhere. Try to think of something different or unusual.

New Site Listing

Today I finally listed a product in my new Zibbet account. I say "a product" because as soon as I finished with the first listing, Zibbet went into it's "technical maintenance" mode and has been there every since. I sure hope they finish soon. I would like to enter more items I have made. And of course they say to "please check back later." Ok. So I will. Again and again and again. I have never been a very patient person and believe I am not going to change at this late date. So I will just go make some more items to post when Zibbet decides it has improved the site for me. Can't wait to see what they have done.

I will keep you posted as to when the new site will be done. :)

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day

Here are the latest valentine projects I made. A Heart on a Stick and some valentine zipper pulls. They are a lot cuter in person. I used lots of glitter a pretty red, white and clear/pearl beads on the zipper pulls. The heart on a stick has a nice row of beeds around it. Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

The Box

I created this little 2 x 2 inch box as a prize in the Artfire Smoosher Scavenger Hunt coming up. It is covered in white clay and the hearts are in shades of purple and red/pink. The inside is painted a nice metalic bronze to add a little pazazz.

New stuff

I was trying to figure out what kind of items I wanted to make for Valentine's Day this year. I thought I would make a Heart on a Stick. So here it is. Glass beads make up the hair, wiggle eyes, two shades of red for the heart, and two bead strings with charms at the end.

One thought I had was if you were going to buy a potted plant for someone, you could stick this heart in the dirt and add a little humor to it. I will be making more of these in slightly different colors. Since they are handmade, no two are alike.

I am also making some 2 x 2 inch boxes with hearts all over them, and some zipper pulls with hearts on them. I will post those pictures later.

Haven't you ever thought that you would like to have something different for Valentine's Day? That was my thought anyway. I am working on it. Thanks for stopping by.

Bright Blessings and Happy New Year

Tonight we welcome in a new year. 2010. Imagine that. Having been born halfway through the last century, I am thankful for every day. I find myself at a place where I am going through changes. I am discovering that when I listen more to my inner voice, I learn so much more. I was at the library the other day and picked up a book that normally I wouldn't even bother with. But when I picked it up, I thought "it looks interesting and I am taking it home to read. It's not a very big book and shouldn't take long to read." Well, it may not be very big or have hundreds of pages but I find that I am reading it slowly to really understand everything being said. I didn't find this book in the fiction section so I was somewhat suprised by the title. "The Sidhe, Wisdom from the Otherworld by John Matthews." Only 115 pages. Very interesting. Another thing that I am doing is changing the way I look at my clay work. I am trying new ideas and techniques and hopefully I can make some items which people will like. It takes a little longer for me to make anything now but I am persistent.

I am also thankful for my Life Partner, Dean. And our two kitties Chelsea and Graytoe. We all work well as a family unit and give each other love and comfort.
Isn't that what life is about? Love, comfort, happiness. Yes, that is a part of the whole.

Everyone have a very happy holiday and may the new year bring you love, comfort and happiness.

Thoughts

I hope everyone had a wonderful christmas. We did at my house. I had the opportunity to take my time shopping for last minute goodies on December 23. I noticed there were fewer people shopping. Usually most of these last minute folks are so focused to get things done, they get crabby and become slightly rude to those around them. I noticed that this year, there was a different feeling in the air. Sadness, defeat, I am not sure. This economy is very bad and folks are having a difficult time everywhere. Maybe this is a good time to realize what this holiday is all about. It is not about shopping and making sure the kids get all they want, and Aunt Fanny gets that special gift she has been dropping hints about. Isn't it amazing that over the years we seem to have forgotten what the holiday really means because there are so many commercials telling us that we have to get this gift and that would be a great gift for whoever. Buy. Buy. Buy. And the corporations that own all the retail shops are saying that the holiday shoppers will "make or break" their profit margins. Is that all we are now? A number on a profit margin chart. No, I don't think so.

Step back, take a deep breath and remember what this holiday really means to you. I did.

These are some of the items I am working on. As I continue to work, I am finding different ways to cover items and create various bowls and such from clay. I have been making a lot of different kinds of "pieces" that I will be adding to my bowls. My hope is that when they are done, they will be purchased to embelish and adorn tables, cabinets and altars.

November Bazaar

These pictures were taken at the bazaar the three of us attended. The first picture is of Char (left), me (middle) and Ruthie (right). The second picture is of Ruthie at her table. She has very awesome jewelry. Such talent this lady has! The third picture is of Char at her table setting things up. If I had the money, half of her items would have gone home with me! Her work is very pretty and professionally made. We all had a great time and I was glad to get to meet both Char (CharSpirit) and Ruthie (Rosework Jewelry).

I am glad we got to meet and chat. We all had a great time. I hope we get to work together again soon.

Gifts for a friend.

I took some time out from my regular work to make some little zipper pulls for a friend of mine. We had discussed having some kind of pull on the zippers for folks who might find it difficult to grasp a small item as the little handle on a zipper. I hope she likes them. They were so easy to make. The possibilities are endless for these little pulls.
Now, back to my regularly scheduled programming. :)

Here is a peek at something new I am trying. This is a bowl and two small votive holders. I will post more as I work on things. I am not quite happy with what I have so far. I want more of a 3D effect. So, research and try. Oh Boy.

Spirit Doll Update

Here is a picture of the front of the dress my spirit doll is wearing. Since I took this picture, I have added a fuzzy teal colored coat and a necklace. The last part I have to do is some sort of head dress and her make up. She looks pretty good so far. I will take more pictures in the next couple of days. I am a bit behind schedule with her due to my being sick, then my birthday and thanksgiving. I will continue and still be done by the end of the month.

One of my next projects is to work on making some wall hanging stuff, small bowls, votive holders and other items along those lines. I am beginning to work with brighter colors and changing the direction I have been working in. So many people make wonderful jewelry from polymer clay. So I am focusing on other areas. I am also trying my hand at making some canes. I have been fearful of doing them in the past but what the heck. We only live once, right? Talk to ya later.

My Spirit Doll

This is the spirit doll I have been working on for about 2 weeks. Not every day. But I have had to remove and replace things here and there. This purple is like a slip. I still have lots to do. Hair, hat, arm covers, the rest of her clothes and make up. My hands have been difficult so I have had to slow down on what I do. But I am determined to get her done. I will post more pics as I progress.
